Many experts agree that the secret of true beauty is to work from the inside out, as well as the outside in, reducing exposure to toxins, including stress, and watching what we put in our body as well as what we put on it.. 

How to keep my skin resilient, clear and looking beautiful:

Lifestyle issues, including stress, have a huge impact on the skin. Before you start spending money on creams and treatments, look at your eating, sleeping, working, playing and exercising habits. According to Allison Tannis, author of feed your skin, starve your wrinkles "stress, whether environmental or internal, increases the production of free radicals in the body, which leads to damage of cells including skin cells". Therefore engaging in anti stress activities, and by just relaxing boost your appearance. Adequate sleep is also important for cellular rejuvenation - which is why sleep deprivation shows show up in the face immediately, ranging from pimples and puffiness to creases and dark under eye circles. Drink a lot of water and minimize exposure to direct sunlight as that will help your skin to stay hydrated and reduce the effects of UVR from the sun.

How to maintain a clear and radiant face:


Cleansing (morning and night for oily skin, just at bedtime for dry skin.) and moisturizing (all skin types) are the basics of daily skin care. To some extent, soaps are considered too harsh for facial skin, so use a non-soap cleanser instead, preferably one that is pH balanced. Oily skin will need a toner after washing to control secretion and then moisturizer, while dry skin only needs a moisturizer. 

What type of food is good for my skin:

A healthy skin diet is high in anti-inflammatory foods and anti-oxidant that fight free radicals. In short a diet that is good for the body is good for the skin and they include:

  • Vegetables 
  • Fruits 

  • Whole grain e.g. Wheat
  • Lean protein 
  • Healthy fats such as olive oil. 

Helpful antioxidants can also be found in berries and brightly-colored fruits. Seeds and nuts have well known anti-inflammatory properties as well as minerals that form the building blocks of healthy skin and hair.
